
CHICAGO – Two personal-best times and a pair of school records highlighted the month of November for Saint Xavier University senior women's cross country & track runner Ashley Shares (Palos Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Stagg) and earned her the distinction of the World Hyundai-Saint Xavier November Athlete of the Month. Shares, a senior history major at SXU, will be publicly honored with a certificate from World Hyundai-Matteson prior to next Wednesday's 7 p.m. men's basketball game against the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) at the Shannon Center in Chicago.

Vancouver, Wash. – Representing Saint Xavier University as individual runners, senior Ashley Shares (Palos Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Stagg) and junior Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) both turned in solid performances at the 2012 NAIA Women's Cross Country National Championships Saturday afternoon at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site in Vancouver, Wash. Shares led the pair finishing in 66th place out of 320 of the NAIA's top runners with a 5K (5,000 meters) time of 19:07. Wallace crossed the finish line in 151st place with a time of 19:54. Shares was also named a 2012 Daktronics-Scholar Athlete prior to Saturday's meet.

Channahon, Ill. - The Saint Xavier University women's cross country squad finished in third place out of the 12 teams that competed at the 2012 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 3, at Channahon Community Park in Channahon, Ill. Senior Ashley Shares (Palos Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Stagg) led the way for the Cougars finishing in sixth overall in the 5,000-meter (5K) race with a personal-best time of 17:44.44. Junior Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) took 17th place overall finishing in a time of 18:29.23. Both Shares and Wallace qualified for the 2012 NAIA National Cross Country Championships after their finishes in the race Saturday. Shares was also named to the all-conference team due to her sixth-place finish.

Grand Rapids, Mich. – Behind a top-10 individual finish by senior Ashley Shares (Palos Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Stagg) for the Saint Xavier University women's cross country team, the Cougars finished in seventh place out of 32 teams competing in the NAIA Great Lakes Invitational in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Saturday, October 20. Shares took eighth place overall with a time of 18:27.88. The Cougars performed very well in the race beating some nationally ranked competition including No. 20 and Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Illinois Institute of Technology.

CHICAGO - A personal-best time and a record-setting performance at the Bethel College (Ind.) Cross Country Invitational has earned Saint Xavier University senior Ashley Shares (Palos Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Stagg) her second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Female Cross Country Runner of the Week award when it was announced by the league office Tuesday morning. Shares turned in a huge race on Friday beating her previous best 5K time by 10 seconds in setting a new course record of 18:21 at the meet.

South Bend, Ind. – Behind two top-10 individual finishers for the Saint Xavier University women's cross country team, the Cougars finished in third place out of 11 teams at the Bethel Cross Country Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Friday, October 12. Senior Ashley Shares (Palos Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Stagg) took first place and set a new course record in the 5K (5,000 meters) race with a personal-best time of 18:21.5. Shares beat her previous personal-best time by 10 seconds and also beat some top competitors on nationally ranked teams en route to her first-place finish, including No. 14 ranked Aquinas College. Aquinas came in first place in the team standings with Indiana Wesleyan University, Saint Xavier University, Indiana Institute of Technology and Bethel College coming in second, third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
