Sophomore Justin Cousin racked up 30 kills at the Lindenwood Invitational over the weekend

St. Charles, Mo. – Sophomore outside hitter Justin Cousin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) combined for 30 kills over four matches to lead the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team at the Lindenwood University Invitational over the weekend in St. Charles, Mo.  The Cougars (4-7 overall) lost their first three matches to No. 4 Graceland University (Iowa), No. 8 Missouri Valley College (Mo.) and No. 2 Park University (Mo.), respectively, before defeating Hannibal-LaGrange University (Mo.) on the event's final day.  All four matches were non-conference affairs, but the four opponents were all members of the West Division of the Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC).

Davenport, Iowa – Junior outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) combined for 28 kills and 18 digs over a pair of matches for Saint Xavier University Saturday afternoon at the Saint Ambrose University Men's Volleyball Triangular at Lee Lohman Arena in Davenport, Iowa.  The Cougars (3-4 overall) won the first match over No. 10 ranked Grand View University (Iowa) in five sets by scores of 25-21, 29-27, 20-25, 14-25, 15-13.  SXU then dropped a tough Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) match to No. 1 Saint Ambrose University in three sets 17-25, 19-25 and 14-25.

CHICAGO – Led by 16 kills from sophomore outside hitter Justin Cousin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest), the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team stunned No. 8 ranked Clarke University (Iowa) in Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) play Thursday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Cougars (2-3 overall/2-3 MAMVIC) took the match in four sets by scores of 21-25, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-22.  It was the second straight victory for SXU after beating Robert Morris University (Ill.) in four sets Monday evening.

CHICAGO – Behind 10 kills and four service aces by junior outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South), the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team logged its first win of the 2012 season defeating Robert Morris University (Ill.) in Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) play Monday night at Attack Athletics in Chicago.  The Cougars (1-3 overall/1-3 MAMVIC) dropped the first set 22-25, but bounced back to take the next three 25-22, 25-12 and 25-19.  The SXU offense warmed up as the match progressed with the team racking up an impressive .321 attack percentage (14 kills, five errors) in the fourth set.

Sylvania, Ohio – Junior outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) and sophomore right side hitter Evan Muys (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) combined for 23 of the 38 total kills for Saint Xavier University, but it was not enough as Lourdes University (Ohio) took a Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) match in four sets Friday night in Sylvania, Ohio.  Muys finished with 12 kills and a team-best eight digs, while Porter tallied 11 kills to go along with a pair of service aces.  The scores for Friday's match were 19-25, 26-24, 17-25 and 19-25.  With the loss, the Cougars fall to 0-3 overall on the young season and 0-3 in the MAMVIC standings.

Milwaukee, Wis. – Despite a match-best 17 kills by junior right side/middle blocker Evan Muys (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg), the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team dropped a hard-fought match to No. 8 ranked Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) action Wednesday night at Panella Court in Milwaukee, Wis.  The Cougars (0-2 overall/0-2 MAMVIC) fell in five sets by scores of 26-24, 24-26, 19-25, 25-23 and 8-15.  Junior outside hitter Aaron Porter (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) also played well for SXU Wednesday recording 11 kills and team-high four service aces.
