Orange Beach, Ala. – Despite a stellar performance in goal by sophomore keeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine), the unseeded Saint Xavier University men's soccer team ended its season Monday afternoon with a tough 1-0 loss to No. 1 seed and No. 2 ranked Hastings College (Neb.) at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala.  The Broncos, the 2010 NAIA national champion, scored the game-winning goal in the 81stminute of action when sophomore forward Dru Kobs capitalized off a deflected save in the box.  Held finished the game with eight saves to lead the defensive effort for Saint Xavier.

Upland, Ind. – A goal by senior forward Matt Klancic (Aurora, Ill./Bowling Green State University/Waubonsie Valley) in the 107thminute of play gave Saint Xavier University a thrilling 1-0 victory over No. 17 ranked Taylor University (Ind.) in opening round action of the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Saturday afternoon in Upland, Ind.  With the huge double-overtime win, SXU now advances to the second round of the national tournament for the first time in the 22-year history of the program.  The Cougars improve to 14-8-0 overall, while the Trojans end their season at 19-2-1.  Saint Xavier sophomore keeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) came up with the key shutout in goal posting six saves on the afternoon.

Kansas City, Mo. - The Saint Xavier University men's soccer team will take on No. 17 ranked Taylor University (Ind.) for the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round on Saturday, November 19.  The game will be played in Upland, Ind., but the game time for next Saturday has yet to be determined.  The Trojans are in the midst of one of the best seasons in program history with a 19-1-1 overall record and their highest ever national rank (No. 17).

CHICAGO – Just minutes after winning the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament and earning the program's second national tournament bid, the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team continued to secure the good news Saturday night when five of its players earned spots on the 2011 All-CCAC Men's Soccer Team.  Senior midfielders Adrian Guzman (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle) and Al Palar (Zabrze, Poland/Plainfield Central) as well as senior defender Dan Cross (Gravesend, England/Axton Chase) were all named first team selections, while senior forward Matt Klancic (Aurora, Ill./Bowling Green State University/Waubonsie Valley) and senior defender Sam Vanaria (Orland Park, Ill./Adelphi University/UW-Parkside/Moraine Valley CC/Sandburg) claimed second team honors for SXU.

CHICAGO – Behind second-half goals by freshman midfielder Luis Medina (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) and senior forward Matt Klancic (Aurora, Ill./Bowling Green State University/Waubonsie Valley), the No. 2 seeded Saint Xavier University men's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to defeat No. 4 seed Judson University (Ill.), 2-1, in the championship game of the 2011 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament on a windy Saturday night at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.  With the victory, the Cougars win their second straight CCAC Tournament title and now advance to the opening round game of the 2011 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championships.  The pairings for the national tournament are scheduled to be announced early next week.

CHICAGO – Unlike the weather, Saint Xavier University freshman midfielder Luis Medina (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) appears to be warming up as the fall season progresses.  Medina scored all three goals to lead the No. 2 seeded Cougars to a 3-0 win over No. 3 seed Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) in semifinals action of the 2011 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Wednesday night at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.  SXU advances to Saturday's tournament championship and will host the game after No. 4 seed Judson University (Ill.) upset No. 1 seed Robert Morris University (Ill.), 4-1, earlier this evening.  The championship game will kick off at 6 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, at Deaton Field.
