

CHICAGO – Lauren Labanauskas, a senior defender from Lockport Township High School in Lockport, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. The Homer Glen, Ill., native will likely play at either defender or outside midfield when she joins the roster this August.

CHICAGO - Former Saint Xavier University women's soccer standout goalkeeper Danielle Wagner was recently spotlighted by Nike Women as a Nike Training Club (NTC) Superuser. Wagner played at SXU from 2006-08 and still holds school records for career goals against average (0.78) and career shutouts (22) as well as single season marks for goals against average (0.61) and shutouts (10).

CHICAGO – Kelly Trojak, a senior defender/midfielder from Lemont Township High School in Lemont, Ill., and Cortney Jerzy, a senior goalkeeper at Lockport Township High School in Lockport, Ill., have both recently signed letters of intent to continue both their athletic and academic careers at Saint Xavier University as members of the Cougar women's soccer program. The pair will be incoming freshmen at SXU for the 2012 fall semester and report to preseason camp in August. Trojak is a native of Lemont, while Jerzy hails from Homer Glen, Ill.

Kansas City, Mo. – Five Saint Xavier University women's soccer players were recently named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes when the honors were announced by the national office late last week. Seniors Nancy Schueth (Lincoln, Neb./Saint Pius X), Ashley Shugar (Lake Orion, Mich./Western Illinois University/Lake Orion), Joanna Janulis (Bolingbrook, Ill./Benet Academy) and Amanda Wessel (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) all earned the award for the second time in their collegiate careers, while junior Brenda Ruiz (Cicero, Ill./Morton East) was a first-time honoree. Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved a junior academic status in order to qualify for the honor.

CHICAGO – Christina Szocka, a senior forward at Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. The Crystal Lake, Ill., native will be a freshman at SXU for the 2012 fall semester and report to preseason practices next August.

Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University freshman forward Morgan Graves (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) was named a second team selection on the 2011 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Soccer Team when the honors were released by the conference office Saturday night in conjunction with the championship game of the 2011 CCAC Women's Soccer Tournament. Graves had a stellar debut season with the Cougars leading the team in both goals scored (11) and total points (27). She played in all 19 of the team's games with 16 starts.
