CHICAGO – Xavier Corona, a senior outside back at Morton East High School in Cicero, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. The Cicero native will be a junior at SXU in the fall of 2013 after spending the last two seasons playing for the Morton College Panthers in Cicero under head coach Juan Franco. Corona played prep soccer for the Mustangs at Morton East High School under the direction of head coach Mike Caruso.

CHICAGO – Erik Diaz, a senior center back at Chicago Academy in Chicago, recently signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. The Peňa, Mexico native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2013 and compete for playing time at the center back position. Saint Xavier University men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic loves that fact that not only is Diaz impressive on the soccer field, but is also a very focused and talented student as well.

CHICAGO – Mike Collevy, a senior center back and center midfielder at Marist High School in Chicago, recently signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. The Chicago native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2013 and compete for playing time in the center back position or as a holding midfielder. Saint Xavier University men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic is thrilled with the addition of Collevy and interested in learning where he will best be utilized on the field, possibly in his debut season.

CHICAGO – Kamil Szczesniak, a senior left midfielder at Reavis High School in Burbank, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. A native of Skomielna Biola, Poland, Szczesniak will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2013 and compete for playing time on the left side of the midfield. Saint Xavier University men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic believes that Szczesniak has the ability to make an immediate impact on the Cougar squad as a freshman.

CHICAGO – The Saint Xavier University men's soccer team got good news from the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Saturday night when five of its players earned spots on the 2012 All-CCAC Men's Soccer Team. Senior defender Sam Vanaria (Chicago, Ill./Adelphi/UW-Parkside/Sandburg), junior goalkeeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and sophomore midfielder Luis Medina (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) all received first team selections. Senior midfielder Kyle Breitenbach (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso University/Valparaiso) and junior defender Dale Judickas (Hickory Hills, Ill./South Suburban CC/Stagg) both received honorable mentions to the All-CCAC team. The all-conference team was announced in conjunction with Saturday's CCAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship.

CHICAGO – Senior midfielder Kyle Breitenbach (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso Univ./Valparaiso HS) scored the lone goal for No. 2 seeded Saint Xavier University in a 3-1 loss to No. 3 seed Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Tournament at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. ONU had a dynamic duo in sophomore midfielder Todd Bevan and sophomore Robby Gunderson. Bevan scored the game's first two goals, while Gunderson scored the insurance goal late in the second half and assisted both of Bevan's goals. With the victory, ONU advances to Saturday's tournament championship and takes on No. 1 seed and regular season champion Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) in Milwaukee.

His pair of goals keyed a 4-1 victory over No. 7 seeded Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Saturday in first round action of the 2012 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament and earned him the CCAC's Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor when it was announced Tuesday morning.

CHICAGO – A pair of goals by senior midfielder Kyle Breitenbach (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso Univ./Valparaiso HS) spurred No. 2 seeded Saint Xavier University to a 4-1 victory over No. 7 seed Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in first round action of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Tournament Saturday evening at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field. With the win, the Cougars improve to 13-5-1 overall on the season and advance to host No. 3 seed Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Wednesday, November 7. SXU led 2-1 at the half, but got two more goals from Breitenbach and freshman forward Marco Gutierrez (Stone Park, Ill./St. Joseph), respectively, in the second half to seal the win.

Bourbonnais, Ill. - A penalty kick goal by Olivet Nazarene University sophomore midfielder Paddy Hoepp with just one second remaining in the overtime period gave Saint Xavier University a tough 1-0 loss Saturday night in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) men's soccer action at Tiger Field in Bourbonnais, Ill. It was the regular season finale for both teams. Junior goalkeeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) played the entire time in goal for the Cougars and finished the night with four saves. With the loss, SXU finishes in second place in the final regular season CCAC standings at 8-2-1, while ONU takes third place with a 7-2-2 conference mark.

Bridgeview, Ill. - Finishing with five saves and picking up his sixth shutout of the season, junior goalkeeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) helped lead the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team to a 3-0 win over Roosevelt University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action Saturday afternoon at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill. Sophomores Tom Lojek (Palos Hills, Ill./Stagg) and Lorenzo Savino (Palatine, Ill./Harper JC/Fremd) got the Cougars on the scoreboard early scoring goals in the ninth and 21st minutes of play, respectively. SXU currently sits in first place in the conference with a 7-1-1 CCAC mark, but awaits the outcome of tonight's game between Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) and Judson (Ill.) to see if CSU can improve to 7-1-1 as well with a victory.

CHICAGO – Goals by sophomore midfielder Luis Medina (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) and sophomore forward Lorenzo Savino (Palatine, Ill./Harper Junior College/Fremd) proved to be enough offense for the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team in a 2-1 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victory over Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Wednesday night at Stuart Field in Chicago. The Cougars (10-4-1 overall) got a goal in each half and scored the first two goals of the game before the Scarlet Hawks got on the board with their lone goal in the 79^th minute. The win was key to keeping SXU in a tie for first place with Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) at the top of the CCAC standings at 6-1-1.

Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The Cougars took 17 shots in the game, but only four of the targets were on goal attempts. The visiting Saints had five shots, all on goal. With the tie, SXU remains in second place in the conference standings at 5-1-1 and puts the overall record at 9-4-1. Holy Cross now sits in third place in the CCAC at 4-1-2 and is 7-4-2 on the year.

Milwaukee, Wis. - In a battle for first place in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) standings, the No. 24 ranked Saint Xavier University men's soccer team dropped a tough one Wednesday evening falling 2-0 to Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) at Time Warner Cable Stadium in Milwaukee, Wis. The Wolves got both of their goals in the first 34 minutes of action and stayed tough on the defensive side keeping the Cougars off the scoreboard despite SXU's 10 shot attempts, including six on goal. With the loss, Saint Xavier falls to 9-4-0 overall and 5-1-0 in conference play, while Cardinal Stritch improves to 8-3-1 overall and 5-0-1 in the CCAC.

CHICAGO – Securing his fifth shutout of the season and 12^th of his impressive collegiate career, junior goalkeeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) helped lead the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival Judson University (Ill.) Saturday afternoon at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. The Cougars used a goal in the 15^th minute by sophomore forward Lorenzo Savino (Palatine, Ill./Harper JC/Fremd) to give themselves just enough offense to capture the big conference victory. The win keeps SXU perfect in CCAC play at 5-0-0 and improves the team's overall record to 9-3-0. The Eagles fall to 4-5-3 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play with the loss.
