[Women's Basketball] Saint Xavier�s Hallberg to Host Girl�s Basketball Camp in June

CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University women's basketball coach Bob Hallberg will host his annual girl's basketball camp, which runs from Monday, June 10, until Friday, June 14, and will be open to all girls between the ages of 7 and 15. In prior years, the camp was divided into two, one-week sessions; however for 2013, the camp will consist of just one session, which will run daily from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. The camp will be held in the Shannon Center on the Chicago campus of Saint Xavier University.

CHICAGO – Revi McMahon, a 5-6 senior point guard at Stagg High School in Palos Hills, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's basketball program. The Palos Park, Ill., native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2013 and compete for playing time on the court during the 2013-14 season. Saint Xavier University women's basketball coach Bob Hallberg feels that McMahon is a perfect fit for his program's style of play and that she will make a seamless transition to the college game.

ATLANTA - Saint Xavier University sophomore guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) was one of just four NAIA (Division I & II) women's basketball players nationwide to be named a finalist for the 2013 State Farm®/Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NAIA Player of the Year award presented by State Farm and the WBCA. The award is given out annually to the top player in each of five WBCA membership divisions (NCAA Divisions II, III, NAIA, junior/community college and high school), while the State Farm Wade Trophy is presented annually to the NCAA Division I player of the year. The winners are announced during the third annual WBCA Awards Show on Monday, April 8, in New Orleans as part of the WBCA National Convention. Stuut joins Westmont College senior forward Tugce Canitez, Northwestern College senior forward Kendra DeJong and Oklahoma City University senior forward Lauren Gober as the NAIA national finalists.

Sioux City, Iowa - Saint Xavier University sophomore guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) was one of just 10 players nationwide to claim a spot on the 2012-13 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball All-America First Team when the national office released the honors Wednesday afternoon. The All-America Teams are selected by the NAIA All-America committee. In addition, senior guard Maureen Riley (Alma, Mich./Sacred Heart Academy) represented the SXU women's basketball team as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete earlier this week. To be named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a player must have reached at least junior academic status and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale.

Sioux City, Iowa – Jumping out to a 13-2 lead in the first five minutes of play, No. 1 seeded and No. 2 ranked University of Saint Francis (Ind.) never looked back in defeating No. 5 seeded Saint Xavier University, 82-69, in second round action of the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship Friday afternoon at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. With the loss, the Cougars end their season with an overall record of 25-7. USF was dominant in the lane throughout the game holding a 55-27 rebounding edge and outscoring SXU 48-20 in the paint. Sophomore guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) led the Cougars on the day recording team-bests of 13 points and six rebounds.

Sioux City, Iowa – Sophomore guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) led the way for the No. 5 seeded Saint Xavier University women's basketball team with a game-high 24 points on 12-of-20 shooting en route to a 70-49 victory over No. 4 seed St. Thomas University (Fla.) in the first round of the State Farm-NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Freshman forward Caitlin McMahon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) had one of the best games of her young career posting a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds on the morning in her first national tournament appearance. SXU advances to the second round and faces No. 1 seed University of Saint Francis (Ind.) at noon on Friday, March 8 at the Tyson Events Center.

Local reporters caught up with the team during a practice session prior to the NAIA Women's Basketball Division II National Championship, which kicks off with SXU taking on St. Thomas University (Fla.) bright and early at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6. Sophomore guard Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) was interviewed right before the annual National Championship Banquet commenced Tuesday evening.

Kansas City, Mo. - The No. 18 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team has received a No. 5 seed for next week's 2013 NAIA Division II Women's Basketball National Championships in Sioux City, Iowa, when the seeds and pairings for the event were officially released by the NAIA national office Wednesday evening. The 32-team, single-elimination tournament is divided into four, eight-team brackets with teams seeded one through eight based off the final NAIA Ratings Poll released earlier this afternoon. The Cougars match up against No. 4 seed Saint Thomas University (Fla.) in first-round action on Wednesday, March 6, and will kick off the entire tournament with a scheduled 8:30 a.m. (central) tip-off at the Tyson Event Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Joliet, Ill. – With the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament wrapping up over the weekend, the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team got some great news Monday morning when sophomore guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) was named the 2012-13 CCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year and joined fellow sophomore teammate, guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) on the 2012-13 All-CCAC Women's Basketball Team when the honors were released by the conference. Stuut earned first team recognition, while Broski earned a spot on the second team. Both players were named to the 2011-12 All-CCAC Women's Basketball Team as freshmen last season.

CHICAGO – Closing to within three points in the final two minutes after trailing by as many as 18 points in the second half, the No. 12 ranked and No. 2 seeded Saint Xavier University women's basketball team could not complete the rally attempt and fell 70-64 to No. 7 seed Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Wednesday evening at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars struggled shooting the ball and securing rebounds throughout the game. SXU hit just 35 percent (25-for-72) of its shots from the field and were outrebounded, 49-32, by the Titans. Sophomore forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) notched her 18^th double-double of the season finishing with 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead Saint Xavier.

Towson, Md. – Saint Xavier University sophomores Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) were both recognized Monday as members of the 2013 Capital One College Division Academic All-America® Women's Basketball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Broski earned a spot on the second team, while Stuut was named to the third team. The Capital One College Division Academic All-America® basketball teams are comprised of student-athletes from both divisions of the NAIA as well as Canadian and two-year institutions. To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Notre Dame, Ind. - The dynamic sophomore duo of Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) and Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) combined for 40 points to lead No. 14 ranked Saint Xavier University to a 76-58 victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's basketball regular season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon at McKenna Arena in Notre Dame, Ind. Stuut finished with game-bests of 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Broski added 19 points toward the winning effort. With the victory, SXU wraps up the regular season with a 24-5 overall record and 17-5 mark in the final CCAC standings. With the overtime victory by Roosevelt University (Ill.) over Purdue University-Calumet (Ind.) earlier this afternoon, Saint Xavier has secured the No. 2 seed in next week's CCAC Tournament.

CHICAGO – Sophomore guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) had a night to remember as the No. 14 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team hung on to capture a 73-68 non-conference victory over former Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival Robert Morris University (Ill.) on "Senior Night" Wednesday evening at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Stuut finished with her 16^th double-double of the season and had one of the best all-around outings in SXU women's basketball history with 27 points, 17 rebounds, six assists and six steals. In addition to her big numbers, Stuut also surpassed 1,000 career points in the game and broke the school's single season rebounding record (319), which she set last season as a freshman with 302 boards. With the win, the Cougars improve to 23-5 overall this year.

Deerfield, Ill. – Sophomore guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) finished with 28 points to lead all scorers as the No. 8 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team got back to its winning ways with a 78-62 road win over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity International University (Ill.) Saturday evening at the Meyer Sports Complex in Deerfield, Ill. Stuut hit 12 of her 22 shot attempts from the field, while also pulling a team-best tying eight rebounds and dishing out four assists Saturday. The victory ends a two-game skid for the Cougars, who improve to 22-5 overall and 16-5 in conference play. SXU was tough defensively in the game racking up 13 steals, which helped lead to 21 turnovers by the Trojans.
