After serving as team manager from 2004-08, Battles begins his fourth season as an assistant coach. His main responsibilities included recruiting and scouting of opponents. Battles also holds the role of assistant facility manager at the Shannon Center and handles the hiring, payroll and scheduling for all student workers of the Shannon Center and Saint Xavier University Athletics.

After receiving his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from SXU, Battles made a quick jump from student to staff. As assistant facility manager for the Shannon Center, which houses the main arena for Cougar basketball, Battles also helps oversee game set-up and practice scheduling.

Battles currently resides in Chicago.
