Strehlau became the fourth SXU women's soccer head coach in program history in July 2012. After serving as an assistant coach for the Cougars the past four seasons (2008-11), his familiarity and experience with the program is second to none. He holds a USSF "D" Coaching License as well as a NSCAA Regional Goalkeeper Diploma. Strehlau also served as the head girls soccer coach at neighboring Mother McAuley High School in 2011.
Strehlau has a wealth of soccer coaching experience around the Chicagoland area. Prior to joining the Saint Xavier University women's soccer staff, he served as varsity girls head coach at Queen of Peace High School for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He has also been the goalkeeper coach for the Elite Soccer Trainers (Arlington Aces Soccer Club), Chicago Gaels & Red Eleven (a USL W-League team) and Southwest United Soccer Club as well as stints with the Inter FC Soccer Club, Midwest Wings Soccer Club, Victor J. Andrew High School and Moraine Valley Community College. A former First Team All-Regional goalkeeper for Moraine Valley Community College in 1997 and 1998, Strehlau has been playing competitive soccer since 1986.
A former native of Memphis, Tenn., Strehlau now resides in Romeoville, Ill., with his wife, Christina, and daughter, Mackenzie. He received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from University of Illinois-Chicago (UIC) in 2002 along with his K-12 teaching certificate.
