Kenosha, Wis. - The Saint Xavier University men's cross country team wrapped up its regular-season cross country schedule at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course taking part in the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational in Kenosha, Wis., last Saturday. The Cougars finished fourth (126 points) among the eight teams in attendance with North Central College (Ill.) winning the meet with 25 points.

Finishing in the lead for SXU was junior Steven Bugarin (Chicago, Ill./Washington) in 32nd place among the 101 runners in the time of 27:54. Sophomore Ronald Lavaire (Shelbyville, Ill./Shelbyville) finished next for the Cougars in 42nd place with a time of 28:21. Next across the finish line for Saint Xavier was sophomore Maciej Demaj (Lockport, Ill./Reavis) in 45th at 28:33. Those veterans were closely followed the freshmen foursome of Eli Hoffman (Mount Morris, Ill./Oregon) in 51st at 28:47, Manny Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) in 59th at 29:14, John Neisler (Armington, Ill./Olympia) in 61st at 29:22, and Matt Miller (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn) in 70th at 29:52. "Our pack is moving well together," stated Saint Xavier men's coach Ed McAllister. "We're done with our preparation and so the tightness of the pack will denote our level of success in the regional championship." The Cougars are off for the next two weekends as they prepare for the Regional and Conference Championships, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University, on Saturday, November 4.
