Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior libero Stephanie Huppenthal (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central), junior outside hitter Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) and sophomore setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) all received Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Player of the Week honors in their respective positions when the awards were announced by the league office in Joliet, Ill., Tuesday. In addition, Huppenthal and Looby also received NAIA Region VII Libero and Setter of the Week honors, respectively, for their parts in leading SXU to a 4-2 record last week.

Huppenthal played at the libero position in all six of Saint Xavier's matches last week. In five of the six matches, she finished with dig totals of 20 or more, while also averaging less than one reception error (0.96) per game in the 23 total games the Cougars played on the week.

Playing in five of SXU's six matches on the week, Looby was the primary setter in those five matches leading the Cougars with 216 assists on the week. Looby also finished with 60 digs and nine total blocks (eight assisted), which showed her versatility around the court.

Buchmeier earned the CCAC Volleyball Player of the Week honor after being named to the Cornerstone University (Mich.) Golden Eagle Invitational All-Tournament Team over the weekend. She played in all six matches for Saint Xavier and recorded 91 kills, 85 digs, and 15 blocks (eight solo) on the week.

SXU (13-13 overall/4-1 CCAC) hosts league-leading Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Tuesday, October 11, for a 7 p.m. match at the Shannon Center. ONU comes to Chicago with a 17-9 overall record and a perfect 5-0 mark in the conference.
