CHICAGO - Junior midfielder Paul Herbst (Cary, Ill./McHenry CC) scored a first-half goal to give the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team a 1-0 advantage at halftime, but the Cougars could not sustain the lead falling 2-1 to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity International University (Ill.) Wednesday at SXU stadium. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 10-5-2 overall this season and 5-2 in league play.
Senior forward Anthony Carev (Glen Ellyn, Ill./College of DuPage) provided the assist on the Herbst goal, which occured in the 23rd minute of regulation. However, just two minutes into the second half, TIU's sophomore midfielder Miles Shiver scored to tie the game, 1-1. With just over seven minutes left to play, Trinity International got the game-winning goal from senior midfielder Baraka Kasali. Senior goalkeeper Enrique Orejel (Chicago, Ill./Curie) finished the game with four saves for SXU.
Saint Xavier continues CCAC play on Sunday, October 24, with a home game against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.). Game time is set for 1 p.m. at SXU stadium.
