CHICAGO - Junior guard Jason Reiter (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) had five three-pointers in the first half and finished with a game-high 21 points to lead the No. 25 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team over visiting East-West University (Ill.), 110-52, Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars improve their overall record to 9-2 with the win, while East-West drops to 2-9.

Besides Reiter, SXU had three other players score in double figures in Tuesday's victory. Junior forward Jabari Saunders (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township) continued his tough play down low for the Cougars recording 19 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Senior guard Phillip Watson (Chicago, Ill./Von Stueben) finished with 11 points and a game-high eight assists, while sophomore guard Ken McCormick (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) came off the bench to score 10 points, including three three-pointers.

The game was never really in doubt as Saint Xavier jumped out to a 16-6 lead over the Phantoms in the first five minutes and never looked back. Reiter shot a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc in the first half and SXU was an impressive 9-for-10 as a team in first-half three-point shooting. The Cougars were ahead 63-22 at the halftime break shooting 65 percent (24-for-37) from the field in first-half action. Twelve of the 13 active players on Saint Xavier's roster Tuesday scored in the game.

Saint Xavier will host its annual Midwest Tournament beginning Sunday, December 17. The eight-team, three-day event will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday and Saint Xavier will match up against Benedictine University (Kan.) in the 7 p.m. game.
