Deerfield, Ill. - Despite 17 kills by junior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South), the No. 3 seeded Saint Xavier University volleyball team could not pick up a victory over No. 2 seed Trinity International University (Ill.) falling in four games 29-31, 30-21, 22-30, 27-30 in the semifinals of the 2006 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Tournament Thursday night in Deerfield, Ill. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 23-19 overall and are eliminated from further conference tournament play. However, SXU still has a chance to earn an at-large bid to participate in next week's NAIA Region VII Volleyball Tournament.

Besides Breshock, senior outside hitter Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) also played a huge role offensively Thursday finishing with 15 kills. Junior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) set up the Cougar offense with 59 assists. Defensively, Saint Xavier was led by sophomore libero Jenna Guide (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) with 29 digs, while senior outside hitter Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace) recorded 24 digs.

SXU (23-19 overall/7-2 CCAC) must now wait to see if it will receive an at-large bid to participate in next week's NAIA Region VII Volleyball Tournament, which begins on Wednesday, November 15. Bids for the regional tournament will be released on Sunday, November 12.
