Men's Basketball - Fri, Jun. 3, 2005
CHICAGO -- Head coach Tom O'Malley and the Saint Xavier University men's basketball program recently added three new student-athletes to its 2005-06 roster with the signings of guards Nicholas Wirth, Paris Vonshae Davis, and Darin Riddle. Davis and Riddle will add depth at the point guard position for the Cougars, while Wirth will compete at the shooting guard spot.

Wirth hails from Belvidere, Ill., where he played prep basketball at Belvidere High School under Jack McCarthy. He plans to pursue a degree in business administration at SXU.

"Nicholas is a 6-3 shooting guard, who just loves to play," said Saint Xavier University men's basketball coach Tom O'Malley. "Our coaching staff is really excited about what he will bring to our program and look for big things from him in the future."

Davis recently wrapped up his high school basketball career at St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Ill., under head coach Gene Pingatore. The Broadview, Ill., native plans to earn a business administration degree at Saint Xavier.

"Paris is a good, quick defender who shoots well off the dribble," said O'Malley. "He is a very athletic point guard and will push to play at the position immediately."

Riddle, a native of Fortville, Ind., played point guard at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville under head coach Steve Doud. He will compete for playing time at SXU as a freshman.

"Darin is a good ball handler and defender," said O'Malley. "He is very determined to have a successful college career and our coaching staff feels that he may have the talent to play as a freshman."
