CHICAGO -- Kamil Chmielewski (College Station, Texas/A&M Consolidated), a senior guard on the Saint Xavier University men's basketball team, was recently named a 2004 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Region VII Academic Scholar-Athlete for his performance both in the classroom and on the court as a Cougar.
Chmielewski owns a 3.72 cumulative grade-point average and is pursuing a degree from SXU in computer science. As a reserve guard for the Cougars, he averaged 0.8 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists during his senior season. He is the son of Zbigniew and Krystyna Chmielewski.
Nominees for NAIA Region VII Academic Scholar-Athlete recognition must possess at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), be in at least his/her junior year of attendance and must have been in attendance at the nominating school at least one full academic term.
