CHICAGO -- Daniel Bolger, a 6-7 senior forward, and Matt Marino, a 6-2 senior point guard, both recently signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Saint Xavier University as members of the Cougar men's basketball program. The pair wrapped up impressive prep careers at Chicago's Saint Patrick High School in March.
Both Bolger and Marino reside in Chicago and were coached by Mike Bailey at Saint Patrick. Saint Patrick High School finished the 2003-04 season with an impressive 22-6 record and qualified for the IHSA Class AA Niles West Sectional before falling in the semi-final game to Von Steuben, 76-61.
"The coaching staff at Saint Xavier has been actively recruiting Dan over the past two years," said SXU head men's basketball coach Tom O'Malley. "Dan is a good, solid rebounder, who runs the floor well for a big man. He will be a great addition to our returning group.
"Matt chose Saint Xavier University over several other schools for the opportunity to play in a successful program with a need at the point guard position," continued O'Malley. "Our coaching staff feels Matt will be a great addition to our program and that he was the best point guard available."
