CHICAGO - Junior shortstop Colleen Kilduff (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) finished the day 3-for-6 with a home run, three runs scored and five RBI as the Saint Xavier University softball team stayed perfect in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) taking a pair of games from Cardinal Stritch University (Wisc.) Thursday at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago. The Cougars won the first game, 6-0, and picked up a 11-3 victory in the nightcap, which helped SXU improve to 13-9 overall and a perfect 7-0 in conference play.

Saint Xavier used a six-run fifth inning to pull out the win in game one of the doubleheader. SXU baserunners took full advantage of two key fielding errors and a wild pitch by Cardinal Stritch to keep Cougars in scoring position and Kilduff provided a two-RBI single with one out to help ignite the big inning of scoring. Sophomores Marie Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) and Lindsey Hall (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) also had key performances in game one each finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI. Junior pitcher Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) earned the win on the mound throwing all seven innings allowing five hits while striking out eight CSU batters.

In game two, the Cougars jumped out to a early 3-0 lead in the first inning behind a two-RBI homer to left field by Kilduff. Cardinal Stritch was able to tie the game, 3-3, with a three-run third inning. However, SXU scored eight runs in the fifth inning to end the game early per the eight-run conference rule. Kilduff went 2-for-2 in the game with a homer, two runs and three RBI. Sophomore rightfielder Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) also turned in two hits for Saint Xavier going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two runs scored. Junior hurler Kim Garner (Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley) picked up the win pitching five innings and giving up three hits and three runs (two earned) with four strikeouts.

SXU heads to New Baden, Ill., to take part in the two-day McKendree College Classic beginning on Saturday, April 2. The Cougars open with a 10 a.m. game against Culver-Stockton College (Mo.).
