Westville, Ind. - Junior pitcher Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) threw her first career perfect game as the No. 14 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team took game one, 10-0, in its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) doubleheader with Purdue University-North Central (Ind.) Tuesday in Westville, Ind. The Cougars also picked up a victory in game two, 6-2, which helped SXU improve to 11-9 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference play.

Wilson threw all five innings of game one, which was called early due to the 10-run conference rule. She struck out three of the 15 PUNC batters she faced in addition to allowing no walks, hits or runs. Sophomore catcher Lindsey Hall (Elgin, Ill./Larkin) and sophomore centerfielder Marie Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) stepped up big at the plate for SXU recording three hits and three RBI apiece. Senior leftfielder Melissa Romano (Chicago Heights, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and Hall also each scored two of the Cougars' 10 runs in the game.

In the nightcap, Purdue-North Central jumped out to a 2-1 lead after three innings of play, but Saint Xavier scored five unanswered runs over the next three innings to grab the victory. Hall led the Cougars with the bat going 2-for-3 with a RBI, while sophomore rightfielder Nicole Barker finished the game 1-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Sophomore pitcher Jory Bodi (Richmond, Ill./Richmond-Burton) earned the win on the mound for SXU pitching five innings and allowing six hits and two unearned runs.

Saint Xavier returns home on Thursday, March 31, to host CCAC foe Cardinal Stritch University (Wisc.) for a 3 p.m. conference doubleheader at SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
