CHICAGO - Junior shortstop Colleen Kilduff (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) got the No. 14 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team off on the right foot Thursday going 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and three RBI in game one to help lead the Cougars to a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) doubleheader sweep over visiting Judson College (Ill.) at SXU Softball Field in Chicago. SXU won the first game, 6-2, and rallied in the second game to pick up the 5-4 victory. With the two wins, Saint Xavier improves to 9-9 overall this season and a perfect 3-0 in league play.

In game one, sophomore outfielders Marie and Nicole Barker (Chicago Heights, Ill./Marian Catholic) as well as sophomore designated hitter Nikki Brown (Rochelle, Ill./Rochelle) each finished with two hits in the winning effort. Saint Xavier tallied 10 hits in the ballgame, including six extra-base knocks. Marie Barker recorded two of the Cougars' four doubles.

Junior rightie Jessica Wilson (Munster, Ind./Munster) picked up the win on the mound for SXU pitching all seven innings and allowing just three hits and two runs (one earned). Wilson also racked up 11 strikeouts, while improving her overall win-loss record to 5-3.

In the nightcap, Marie Barker and sophomore third baseman Samantha Lovato (Blue Island, Ill./Eisenhower) tallied two hits and two runs apiece to pace Saint Xavier. Judson took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning and the Cougars responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. In the bottom of the fourth, SXU tacked on two more runs to take the lead for good, 5-4. Freshman pitcher Ashley Shearer (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) picked up the win on the mound for the Cougars throwing all seven innings and allowing just five hits and four unearned runs, while striking out four Judson batters.
