CHICAGO - With team-highs of 17 digs and 13 kills, junior Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) led the Saint Xavier University volleyball team to a thrilling five-game match win over Tiffin University (Ohio) in non-conference action Thursday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars won the first game, 36-34, but dropped the next two 26-30 and 19-30. SXU fought back taking games four and five in the match 30-14 and 15-10, respectively, to improve to 4-4 overall this season.

In addition to Buchmeier, senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) also played well for the Cougars in Thursday's victory recording 12 kills. Freshman Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) turned in a nice all-around performance as well with 11 digs and six kills.

Saint Xavier (4-4 overall) will host the eight-team SXU Cougar Invitational this weekend at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars will open with a 4 p.m. match Friday against Trinity International University before taking on Taylor University (Ind.) later that evening in an 8 p.m. match.
