CHICAGO - Head coach Bob Heersema notched career win No. 400 as his Saint Xavier University volleyball team defeated visiting Tiffin University (Ohio) in a three-game, non-conference match (30-24, 30-20, 30-28) Thursday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 3-2 overall this season.

Highlighting the milestone victory was junior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew), who finished with team highs of 35 assists and 11 digs. In addition, SXU got solid performances from junior middle blocker Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) with seven total blocks as well as senior outside hitter Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) and sophomore right side Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara), who posted nine and seven kills, respectively. Heersema is in his 20th season coaching the Cougars.

Saint Xavier (3-2 overall) hosts the two-day 2006 SXU Cougar Invitational, which begins on Friday, September 8. The Cougars will open the event Friday with a 4 p.m. match against St. Ambrose University (Iowa) at the Shannon Center.
