CHICAGO - Behind a team-high six kills from senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team secured its second straight match victory Tuesday with a big Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) win over Calumet College (Ind.) in three straight games 30-7, 30-10, 30-10 at the Shannon Center in Chicago. With the win, SXU improves to 9-11 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The Cougars had a host of outstanding individual performances in Tuesday's winning effort. Freshman Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) recorded a game-high six service aces in the match, while senior setter Amy Stephens (Bowen, Ill./Camp Point Central) tallied 20 assists. In addition, senior Stephanie Huppenthal (Cedar Lake, Ind./Hanover Central) played stellar defense scooping up a team-high eight digs to help secure the victory. Saint Xavier (9-11 overall/3-1 CCAC) takes a week off before returning to its CCAC slate hosting Robert Morris College (Ill.) on Saturday, October 1, at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
