CHICAGO - Despite 12 kills from senior outside hitter Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match of the season Tuesday night falling in three games to Trinity International University (Ill.) 29-31, 17-30, 25-30 at the Shannon Center in Chicago. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 8-8 overall and 3-1 in league play, while the Trojans improve to 8-12 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

SXU also got strong individual performances from junior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) and junior outside hitter Jessica Synowiecki (Oak Lawn, Ill./Moraine Valley CC), who each finished with seven kills. Sophomore libero Jenna Guide (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) was tough defensively with 27 digs, while junior middle blocker Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) posted five total blocks. Junior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) recorded 34 assists in the losing effort.

Saint Xavier (8-8 overall, 3-1 CCAC) returns to action on Thursday, September 28, with a non-conference road match against Indiana Institute of Technology. Start time for Thursday's match is 7 p.m. (eastern) in Fort Wayne, Ind.
