Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior outside hitter Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and NAIA Region VII Volleyball Player of the Week when the league office in Joliet, Ill released the honor Tuesday. Buchmeier helped lead the Cougars to a 4-2 record on the week with wins over Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.), Tiffin University (Ohio), St. Ambrose University (Iowa), and Park University (Mo.), respectively.

Buchmeier led the Cougars on the week with 85 kills and 80 digs over the six-match stretch. In SXU's heart-breaking five-game match loss to No. 24 ranked Cornerstone University (Mich.) Saturday night, Buchmeier finished with 21 kills and 19 digs. She recorded double-digit kill totals in five of Saint Xavier's six matches on the week.

Last week, the Cougars had two volleyball players recognized by the conference with CCAC Player of the Week honors. Flyer Festival. Junior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) was also named the CCAC Setter of the Week last week for the Cougars. She combined for 76 assists and 21 digs during the two matches at the Flyer Festival.

Saint Xavier (5-4 overall) returns to its CCAC slate Tuesday with a home match against Judson College (Ill.). Start time for tonight's match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
