CHICAGO - Emily Soto, a outside hitter/defensive specialist from Joliet, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to transfer to Saint Xavier University and continue her academic and athletic career as a member of the Cougar volleyball program. Soto transfers to SXU from Joliet Junior College where she enjoyed a successful two-year playing career under coach Emily Marino.

Soto is projected to play primarily at the defensive specialist or libero spot next fall for the Cougars. She was a two-time all-conference selection in the North Central Community College Conference (N4C), including conference MVP and all-region honors in 2005. Soto is the daughter of Ed and Michelle Soto and enjoyed a successful prep career at Joliet Catholic Academy.

"Emily has a ton of playing experience at the high school, club volleyball, and junior college levels," said SXU volleyball coach Bob Heersema. "She will bring leadership and competition to our team next fall."
