CHICAGO - Despite eight kills and 12 digs from junior Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace), the No. 3 seeded Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) quarterfinals match in three games (24-30, 30-32, 25-30) to No. 6 seed Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in postseason action Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars end their 2005 season with an overall record of 21-19.
Senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) finished with seven kills for Saint Xavier, while junior Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) and sophomore setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) each recorded team-highs of 15 digs. Looby also led the Cougars in assists with 25.
SXU finished the season with a 21-18 overall record and finished in third place in the CCAC regular standings with a 7-2 mark.
