Bourbonnais, Ill. - Despite a game-high 24 points by senior guard Rick Romeli (Lansing, Ill./Marian Catholic), the No. 13 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team dropped a tough Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road game to Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Saturday, 83-74, in Bourbonnais, Ill. With the loss, SXU drops to 19-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
In addition to Romeli, senior forward Michael Rojas (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) finished with 16 points, while senior guard Phillip Watson (Chicago, Ill./Von Stueben) chipped in 13. Romeli hit five three-pointers in the losing effort. ONU took care of the ball throughout the game committing only 11 turnovers in the game, while Saint Xavier finished with 13 miscues.
Saint Xavier returns home to continue its conference slate with a game against Indiana University-South Bend on Wednesday, February 2, at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
