CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University senior Brad Sheehan (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League's Offensive Player of the Week for his key role in the Cougars' 20-17 home win Saturday over conference rival Olivet Nazarene University. In his first game back this season after suffering a leg injury during the preseason, Sheehan converted on both of his second-half field goal attempts to keep the Cougars ahead on the scoreboard.
Sheehan made his first field goal (21 yards) of the game at the 4:41 mark of the third quarter to break the 14-14 tie. He then kicked the eventual game-winning field goal (30 yards) with 9:38 remaining in regulation to give SXU the 20-14 advantage.
The Cougars (4-3 overall, 2-1 MSFA) head to Davenport, Iowa, on Saturday, October 23, to face conference foe and No. 4 ranked St. Ambrose University. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Brady Street Stadium.
