CHICAGO - Simone Green and Jackie Ott, a pair of incoming freshmen middle distance runners, have both recently signed letters of intent to continue both their athletic and academic careers at Saint Xavier University as members of the Cougar women's track and cross country programs. Green hails from Hazelcrest, Ill., and ran girl's track and cross country under coach Roy White at Thornwood High School in South Holland, Ill. Ott is a native of Island Lake, Ill., and ran girl's track at Marian Central Catholic High School under coach Paul Hamill in Woodstock, Ill.
Green is the daughter of Welbon and Leslie Green, while Ott is the daughter of Jim and Nadine Ott. Green was a member of Thornwood's state-qualifying 4x800 meter relay team in both 2007 and 2008. She plans to pursue a major in psychology next year at Saint Xavier University. Ott started running middle distance late in her high school career, but has all the tools to be a successful collegiate cross country and track athlete.
"Simone is a very talented and determined athlete, who will be an excellent addition to both our cross country and track teams," said Saint Xavier University women's track coach Lisa Ebel. "Jackie is also very talented and fiercely competitive. I have no doubts that both of these women will have little trouble making the jump to collegiate competition."
