CHICAGO - Despite a team-high 12 kills for senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team picked up its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) loss of the season falling to Trinity International University (Ill.) in four games Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Following a 17-30 loss in game one, the Cougars responded in game two with a 31-29 win, but dropped games three and four 22-30 and 16-30, respectively. With the loss, SXU falls to 7-11 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
In addition to Mockovak, junior Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace) had a nice all-around performance for the Cougars finishing the match with 10 kills and nine digs. Sophomore setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) led Saint Xavier in assists with 22.
Saint Xavier (7-11 overall/2-1 CCAC) will play St. Joseph's College (Ind.) on Wednesday, September 21, with a 7 p.m. home match at the Shannon Center.
