Olathe, Kan. - Junior forward Jabari Saunders (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township West) was recently named a 2005 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I Men's Basketball Second Team All-American when the teams were released by the national office late last week. Members of the teams are selected by the NAIA All-American committee comprised of coaches throughout the country.

Saunders led the nation in field-goal percentage at the NAIA level with an impressive .736 regular-season clip (190-for-258). The 6-6 junior was named to the 2005 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) First Team and was featured in the "Faces in the Crowd" section of the February 14 edition of Sports Illustrated for his field-goal effiency. Saunders finished second on the team in scoring (13.4 points per game) and first on the boards (7.1 rebounds per game) over the 2004-05 season.

Saint Xavier ended its 2004-05 season with a 30-7 overall record and a No. 13 national ranking. The Cougars advanced to the NAIA Elite 8 for the first time in school history and hit the 30-win mark for just the third time, tying the school's record for most wins in a season.
