CHICAGO - Senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) recorded a team-high 14 kills to lead the Saint Xavier University volleyball team to a thrilling five-game match road win over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Tuesday night in Chicago. The Cougars (5-8 overall/2-0 CCAC) dropped game one 22-30, won the second game 30-26, fell in game three 26-30, but remained focused in games four and five winning 30-20 and 18-16. Junior Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) also had a nice outing for SXU finishing with 12 kills and a team-high 23 digs, while junior Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace) turned in 10 kills. Sophomore setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) recorded 18 digs for the Cougars. Saint Xavier (5-8 overall/2-0 CCAC) will head to Hastings, Neb., this weekend to take part in the Second Annual Bronco Volleyball Premier. SXU will open with a 2 p.m. match on Friday, September 16, against Concordia University (Neb.).
