Elgin, Ill. - With a team-high 16 digs and 10 kills from junior Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team picked up a big conference victory in its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) match of the season with a four-game match win over Judson College Tuesday in Elgin, Ill. The Cougars won the first game, 30-25, dropped the second 25-30, but finished strong in the final two games winning 30-26 and 30-21 to improve to 3-4 overall on the season.
Junior Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) led the Cougars' offensive attack with a team-high 11 kills, while senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) recorded eight total blocks. Sophomore Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) also had a nice outing in Tuesday's win finishing with seven digs.
Saint Xavier (3-4 overall) faces Tiffin University (Ohio) on Thursday, September 8, for a non-conference home match at 7 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
