CHICAGO - Although junior Jessica Buchmeier (Steger, Ill./Bloom Trail) had an impressive all-around match with a team-best 13 kills and eight digs, the Saint Xavier University volleyball team could not pick up the victory Sunday falling 30-22, 30-24, 30-27 in three games against NCAA Division II foe Florida Southern College in non-conference action at the Shannon Center in Chicago. SXU drops to 14-16 overall with the loss, while Florida Southern improves to 23-2.

In addition to Buchmeier, several other Cougars had solid outings in Sunday's home loss. Sophomore setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) played the first two games of the match and finished with a team-high 15 assists, while senior setter Amy Stephens (Bowen, Ill./Camp Point Central) tallied 12 assists for Saint Xavier in the third game. Junior Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace) played well on defense with a team-high 10 digs.

SXU (14-16 overall/4-2 CCAC) stays at home to face Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival Trinity Christian College (Ill.) on Tuesday, October 18. The start time of the match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
