Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Volleyball Player of the Week and junior Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) was named the CCAC Volleyball Setter of the Week when the league office in Joliet, Ill released the honors Tuesday. Breshock and Looby were both instrumental in leading the Cougars to a 3-1 record at the Cornerstone University Golden Eagle Classic over the weekend.
Breshock dominated offensively for SXU at the Classic averaging just over 12 kills per match with an astounding .603 attack percentage. She finished the four matches with 49 kills and just five attack errors out of her 73 total attacks as well as 14 total blocks (seven solos, seven assisted). Breshock also earned a spot on the Cornerstone University Golden Eagle Classic All-Tournament Team.
Looby authored double-digit assist and dig totals in each of her four matches on the weekend. She averaged nearly 40 set assists a match as well as 13.3 digs. Looby also finished the Classic with at least one service ace per match and six total blocks (two solos, four assisted). It was the second time this season she has earned CCAC Setter of the Week honors.
Saint Xavier (12-13 overall/3-1 CCAC) returns to its CCAC slate on Tuesday, October 10, with a road match against Robert Morris College (Ill.). Start time for Tuesday's match is 7 p.m.
