Joliet, Ill. - Sophomore Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace) finished with 17 kills over two matches Saturday, but the Saint Xavier University volleyball team could not pick up a victory at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Big Guns Classic Saturday in Joliet, Ill., dropping its final two matches of the event. SXU falls to 7-29 overall dropping all four of its matches over the weekend.

In the first match against Iowa Wesleyan College, Pedigo finished with a team-high eight kills, but the Cougars lost in three straight games 20-30, 15-30, 23-30. Freshman Eileen Carls (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) recorded 11 digs in the match. In SXU's second match Saturday against host University of St. Francis (Ill.), Pedigo led Saint Xavier in both kills with nine and digs with 13, but the Cougars fell again in three games 18-30, 26-30, 23-30.

Saint Xavier heads home to face Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Cardinal Stritch University (Wisc.) on Tuesday, October 26, at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
