Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior shortstop Brendan Christy (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) swept Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and NAIA Region VII Player of the Week honors Wednesday after his impressive individual outings as SXU finished 5-2 overall in baseball action last week. Christy helped lead the Cougars to four straight conference wins over Trinity Christian College (Ill.), Robert Morris College (Ill.), Illinois Institute of Technology, and Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.), respectively.

Christy went 14-for-30 (.467) at the plate over the seven-game stretch and recorded seven doubles, a home run, nine runs scored, and seven RBI. Starting all seven games at short, he also racked up 18 assists and 10 putouts all without committing a single error for a perfect fielding percentage (1.000).

The Cougars (15-22 overall/6-1 CCAC) host conference rival University of St. Francis (Ill.) on Wednesday, April 12, at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago. Start time for the nine-inning game is 3 p.m.
