Hastings, Neb. -- Freshman Kate Eckoff (Grant Park, Ill./Grant Park) and sophomore Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace) had impressive performances over the weekend as the Saint Xavier University volleyball team picked up two wins in four matches at the Hastings College Tournament Friday and Saturday in Hastings, Neb. Eckoff was named to the all-tournament team following the event after totaling 32 kills, 12 blocks, 12 digs and nine service aces in four matches.

In the first match of the tourney Friday, Eckoff finished with a team-high 13 kills to lead SXU over St. Mary's College (Neb.) in three games, 30-14, 30-22, 30-22. In the Cougars' second game Friday, Pedigo led the team in kills with 14 as Saint Xavier defeated William Woods College (Mo.) in four games, 30-28, 30-23, 30-32, 30-27.

SXU dropped both of its Saturday matches falling first to John Brown University (Ark.) in three straight games, 15-30, 16-30, 16-30, and then fell to host Hastings College (Neb.) in three, 22-30, 20-30, 20-30. Pedigo and freshman Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./Thorton Fractional South) each recorded five kills in the loss to John Brown, while Eckoff tallied eight kills in the match against Hastings College.

The Cougars (3-11 overall, 0-2 CCAC) travels to Whiting, Ind., on Tuesday, September 21, to face Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Calumet College of St. Joseph. The match is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
