Palos Heights, Ill. - Led by four hits (three doubles) and three runs scored from senior shortstop Brendan Christy (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew), the Saint Xavier University baseball team cranked out season highs of 19 hits and 14 runs to defeat Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity Christian College, 14-2, Tuesday in seven innings in Palos Heights, Ill. With the victory, the Cougars (9-20 overall/1-1 CCAC) evened off their league mark at 1-1 and gained some much-needed momentum heading into a busy conference week.

In addition to Christy, senior left fielder Chris Gruber (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and freshman centerfielder Don Skelly (Oak Lawn, Ill./Marist) also had big games at the plate with each recording three hits and a RBI. Junior catcher Ryan Buchler (Schererville, Ind./South Suburban CC) went 2-for-3 with a game-high three RBI. Freshman righthander Dan Miller (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) got the win on the mound for SXU pitching all seven innings and allowing eight hits, no walks, and two earned runs with five strikeouts.

Saint Xavier (9-20 overall, 1-1 CCAC) continues its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) slate on Wednesday, April 5, with a home game against Robert Morris College (Ill.). Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Richard R. Ferrell Memorial Field in Chicago.
