CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University junior quarterback John Perryman (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) and senior defensive end Chris Kooistra (Chicago, Ill./Marist) swept the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Midwest League's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively, after stellar individual performances in the Cougars' last-minute, upset win over No. 4 ranked and previously unbeaten St. Ambrose University (Iowa) Saturday. It is the sixth time this season that SXU has had a player receive the honor and the second time the Cougars have swept both offensive and defensive honors in the same week.

Perryman finished Saturday's game 13-for-29 for 174 yards passing with two passing touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns and an interception. He was instrumental in all four of Saint Xavier's four touchdowns in the game, including the game-winning, 27-yard TD pass to freshman running back Chris Rodriguez (Olympia Fields, Ill./Marian Catholic) with 28 seconds remaining in regulation.

Kooistra recorded 3.5 tackles, a tackle for loss of 10 yards, two quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries for the Cougars Saturday. However, his key defensive play of the game came with 33 seconds left in the game and St. Ambrose clinging to a 23-20 lead. On a third down play, St. Ambrose fumbled the snap and Kooistra was able to recover the fumble to set up SXU's game-winning drive in the final seconds.

The Cougars (5-3 overall, 3-1 MSFA) returns home to face Trinity International University (Ill.) on Saturday, October 30, at SXU stadium. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
