Marion, Ind. - A 12th place finish by freshman Lauren Dentzman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) paced the Saint Xavier University women's cross country team to a fourth place team finish at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational Saturday in Marion, Ind. Dentzman finished the 5,000-meter (5K) course with a time of 20:03 to lead a strong team outing by the Cougars. NCAA Division II Bellarmine University (Ky.) won the meet followed by two nationally ranked NAIA programs in No. 25 Taylor University (Ind.) and No. 23 Indiana Wesleyan University (Ind.).
Freshman Amy Poull (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) had one of her strongest outings of the season finishing right behind Dentzman in 13th place with a time of 20:05. "I thought our team ran a fabulous race Saturday," said first-year SXU women's cross country coach Lisa Ebel. "There was 1:09 separating our lead runner and our fifth finisher. We have to keep improving each week in preparation for our regional meet on November 4. I think the team will have its best race of the season that day." The Cougars will head to Bourbonnais, Ill., on Saturday, October 14, to take part in the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational. The 5K meet begins at 11:15 a.m.
