Deerfield, Ill. - Despite eight kills by senior right side Stephanie Galas (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road match to Trinity International University (Ill.) Thursday evening in Deerfield, Ill. The Cougars (14-18 overall/3-4 CCAC) lost the match in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-14. SXU had difficulty generating successful attacks late in the match with the team recording 16 attack errors over the final two sets.

Freshmen outside hitters Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) and Kelly Knudsen (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) each finished with six kills for the Cougars, while sophomore setter Ashley August (LaGrange Park, Ill./Lyons Township) posted 11 assists. Knudsen also led SXU defensively Thursday finishing the match with 11 digs.

Saint Xavier (14-18 overall/3-4 CCAC) takes the weekend off and returns to action on Tuesday, October 27, with a conference match against Judson University (Ill.). The road match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Elgin, Ill.
