CHICAGO - The Saint Xavier University women's cross country team did not have far to travel last Saturday competing in the Sean Earl Invitational sponsored by Loyola University at Montrose Avenue Harbor in Chicago. The Cougars were placed in the meet's Maroon Division and finished 14th among the 33 squads that competed in the lakefront event.

Leading the way for SXU was freshman Lauren Dentzman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) in 60th place among the 379 runners participating in the 5,000-meter (5K) event with a time of 19:53. Dentzman was followed by freshman Amanda Janosz (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) at No. 67 in 19:56, freshman Amy Poull (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) in 69th place at 19:57, freshman Nicolle Bartels (Chicago, Ill./Marian Catholic) in 138th place in 20:59, and freshman Megan Syring (Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) in 141th with a time of 21:00. Also running for Saint Xavier were sophomore Alison Schultz (Tinley Park, Ill./Bradley University) at No. 178 with a time of 21:30, sophomore Marianne Lopez (Chicago, Ill./Washington) in 207th at 21:56, and junior Jessica Mossuto (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) at 236th place in 22:24.

The Cougars will head to Marion, Ind., to take part in the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, October 7. The meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. and pits Saint Xavier against other top-level NAIA teams.Click here for meet results.
