Orlando, Fla. - Sophomore guard Candis Jackson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) made her season debut for the Saint Xavier University women's basketball team Tuesday as the Cougars fell 73-66 to No. 13 Lee University (Tenn.) at the Disney Games at the Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. Jackson (SXU's first Division I women's basketball transfer) finished with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals Tuesday logging 34 minutes on the court. SXU was led by junior guard Jen Belmonte (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) with 14 points, including a game-high four three-pointers.

Saint Xavier (2-9 overall) had two other players score in double figures against Lee with junior forward Jacki DiMaggio (Bartlett, Ill./Glenbard North) scoring 12 points and senior forward Rachel Merkell (Munster, Ind./Munster) chipping in 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Saint Xavier had trouble stopping Lee senior forward Stacy Felcher down low, who finished with game-highs of 22 points and 13 rebounds.

The Cougars led by 12 points, 37-25, at halftime shooting 40 percent (14-for-35) from the field in the first frame. However, Lee got its offense rolling in the second half and scored 48 points in the second half on 18-for-30 (60 percent) shooting. SXU helped force 27 Lee turnovers in the game, but the Flames outrebounded Saint Xavier, 45-31, in the game.

Saint Xavier will take on No. 18 Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) on Wednesday, December 22, to wrap up the Disney Games at the Wide World of Sports Complex. Game time is set for 2 p.m. eastern.
