Findlay, Ohio - Saint Xavier University senior kicker/punter Shane Longest (Wilmington, Ill./Wilmington) was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week Tuesday for his performance last Saturday in SXU's 41-14 win over visiting Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.). It is the second time in as many weeks that Longest has received the weekly league recognition.

Longest helped extend No. 3 ranked Saint Xavier's lead throughout the game adding two field goals in the second and third quarters to help the Cougars pull away at a crucial point in the game. His second field goal sparked SXU's big 31-point output in the second half. Longest also kept Olivet in poor field position by punting three punts for 136 yards for an average of 45.3 yards per punt.

Saint Xavier (3-0 overall) opens its home stand on Saturday, September 22, when former MSFA Midwest League foe Trinity International University (Ill.) makes the trip from Deerfield, Ill. The Cougars will host their final regular season night game with the kickoff set for 6 p.m. at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.
