Romeoville, Ill. - Despite team-highs of nine kills and six digs from junior Paige Pedigo (Chicago Ridge, Ill./Queen of Peace), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped a three-game, non-conference match to NCAA Division II foe Lewis University (Ill.) Thursday night 30-19, 30-18, 30-19 at Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Ill. The Cougars fall to 16-18 overall with the loss, while Lewis improves to 16-10.

Senior Carrie Mockovak (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) also had a nice outing for Saint Xavier University finishing with six kills. Senior setter Amy Stephens (Bowen, Ill./Camp Point Central) recorded 18 assists for the Cougars, while freshman Mallory Winkler (Burbank, Ill./Queen of Peace) turned in a game-high four service aces.

SXU (16-18 overall/6-2 CCAC) hosts the Cougar Invitational II this weekend at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The six-team event kicks off on Friday, October 28, at 4 p.m. Saint Xavier will play Calumet College (Ind.) in its first match Friday at 4 p.m.
