Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University senior forward Rachel Merkell (Munster, Ind./Munster), junior forward Jacki DiMaggio (Bartlett, Ill./Glenbard North) and sophomore guard Candis Jackson (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young) were all named to the 2005 All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) First Team Monday when the team was released by the league office Monday in Joliet, Ill. In addition, SXU senior guard Sara Zembrzuski (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) was named to the 2005 All-CCAC Honorable Mention Team.

The Cougars recently completed the 2004-05 regular season finishing with a 19-11 overall record and a 10-2 CCAC mark, which placed them in a three-way tie with Indiana University-South Bend and Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) for the conference regular-season crown. SXU will host No. 6 seeded Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) tonight at 5 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago for its first-round game of the 2005 CCAC Tournament. The winner of tonight's match-up will face the winner of No. 2 Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) and No. 7 seed Robert Morris College (Ill.) on Thursday, March 3. Game time has yet to be determined forThursday's game.

DiMaggio currently leads Saint Xavier in scoring averaging 13.2 points per game in addition to pulling down 6.6 rebounds per game. Jackson is second on the team in scoring with a 11.9 points per game clip, while Merkell averages 10.4 points a game and leads the Cougars on the glass with a 7.8 rebound per game average. Zembrzuski is the team's most productive three-point shooter hitting a team-high 50 treys thus far this season. She averages 8.7 points and 2.1 assists a game for Saint Xavier.
