Women's Soccer - Fri, Feb. 3, 2006
CHICAGO - Amy Turner, a senior at Lincoln Pius X High School in Lincoln, Neb., has signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletics and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. She is currently a defender under Jeremy Ekeler at Lincoln Pius X.
Turner is the daughter of Ted and Mary Turner, who reside in Lincoln. She plans to pursue a degree in nursing at Saint Xavier University. Turner is the fifth student-athlete that current SXU women's soccer coach Derek Begich has recruited from Lincoln Pius X High School joining Abby Jambor, Katie Oswald, Kate Bingham and two-time NAIA Honorable Mention All-American Amanda Kreifels.
"Amy is very aggressive, a hard tackler, very coachable, and has a great work ethic," said Begich. "She is very focused in everything she does and I know that she will be very successful, both athletically and academically, at SXU. I saw her play last spring and she immediately stood out with her organization and non-stop energy. Amy will make an immediate impact in the fall and help a team that went 14-4-2 and gave up just 22 goals in 20 games last fall."
