Women's Basketball - Sat, Nov. 5, 2005
CHICAGO - Despite a game-high 18 points from sophomore forward Jackie Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hannibal-LaGrange College), the No. 21 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team had trouble keeping pace with No. 19 ranked and NCAA Division I foe DePaul University (Ill.) in an exhibition game Saturday at the DePaul Athletic Center in Chicago. The Cougars took a 7-4 lead early in the game before the Blue Demons used a 30-5 scoring run to pull away for good.
In addition to Heine, three other SXU players scored in double figures in Saturday's exhibition. Sophomore Sarah Wilson (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) hit four of her eight three-point attempts for 12 points, while junior guards Angie Brown (Sycamore, Ill./Illinois Institute of Technology) and Dani Engleman (Oak Park, Ill./River Forest) each turned in 11 points. Heine, Brown and Engleman also each finished with a team-high five rebounds. The Cougars tallied 10 steals in the game, but could not overcome 29 turnovers. DePaul was led by sophomore guard Allie Quigley, who finished with 17 points.
Saint Xavier will head to DeKalb, Ill., on Friday, November 11, to play another exhibition game against NCAA Division I foe Northern Illinois University. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
