CHICAGO - In her first official game with the No. 21 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team, junior transfer Angie Brown (Sycamore, Ill./Illinois Institute of Technology) showed off her offensive talent leading all scorers with 19 points as Saint Xavier rolled to a 85-53 home victory over Trinity International University (Ill.) in its season opener Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (1-0 overall) took advantage of 26 steals and 49 rebounds to take control of the game early.

Sophomore Sarah Wilson (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington South) also had a solid opener for SXU scoring 12 points off the bench, while sophomore guard Clarise Jones (Chicago, Ill./Southern Illinois University) tallied double figures in a reserve role as well with 10 points and game-high five steals. Sophomore center Jennifer Stinich (Westchester, Ill./Nazareth Academy) was solid down low for the Cougars with five points and a game-high nine rebounds and junior point guard and captain Dani Engleman (Oak Park, Ill./River Forest) dished out an impressive seven assists in Tuesday's victory.

Midway through the first half, Saint Xavier built its lead to double figures and never looked back cruising to a 39-26 halftime advantage. The Cougars put even more pressure on the Lady Trojans in the second half outscoring them, 46-27, after the break. SXU shot 42 percent (32-for-77) from the field in the game, while TIU was held to just 29 percent (17-for-58). Junior forward Alisa Haman, who finished with 17 points and six rebounds, led Trinity International.

Saint Xavier will head to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend to take part in the two-day Trevecca Nazarene University State Farm Classic. The Cougars open on Friday, November 18, with a 7 p.m. match-up against host Trevecca Nazarene before wrapping up the tourney on Saturday (November 19) with a 1 p.m. game against Fresno Pacific University (Calif.).
